Privacy Policy for The Everything Key
Effective Date: October 14, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes the policies of SpanDone (“I,” “me,” or “my”) on the collection, use, and disclosure of information in connection with your use of my mobile application, “The Everything Key” (the “App”).
The App is designed with your privacy at its core. It does not collect or transmit any personally identifiable information. The information it processes is handled exclusively on your device to enable the App’s functionality.
a) Installed Applications List
- What I access: The App queries the list of your installed applications that are launchable from the home screen.
- Why I access it: This is a core feature of the App, required to present you with a list so you can choose which application to map to a hardware key press.
- How it’s handled: This list is read and displayed to you within the App. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted off your device.
b) Accessibility Service Data
- What I access: The App uses Android’s Accessibility Service. The purpose of this service is strictly to detect hardware key events.
- Why I access it: Detecting hardware key presses is impossible for a third-party app without this service. It is essential for the App’s core remapping functionality.
- Information I DO NOT Access: When you enable the Accessibility Service, Android displays a generic warning that the App can “read all the content on your screen.” While the permission is broad, The Everything Key DOES NOT use this capability. The App’s code is minimal and strictly limited to detecting hardware key events. It does not read, log, collect, or transmit any on-screen content, text, or personal information.
c) Device Model Information
- What I access: On first launch, the App reads your device’s public model name from
android.os.Build.MODEL.
- Why I access it: This is used for the optional personalization feature, allowing the App to suggest a list of your device’s official colors so you can select the appropriate background image.
- How it’s handled: This information is read and displayed to you once and is not stored or transmitted.
The App uses Android’s SharedPreferences to save your settings.
- What I store: Your app mappings and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- How it’s handled: This data is stored only on your device in the App’s private storage. It is never transmitted. This data is deleted if you uninstall the App.
3. Data Sharing
I do not collect any personal information, and therefore I do not share any data with any third parties. The App does not use the internet.
4. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at anyone under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
I may update my Privacy Policy from time to time. I will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
